The problem is with your enviroment try running cmd insted of command.
If that work type set and you will get somthing like this
NUMBEROFPROCESSORS=1
OS=WindowsNT
Path=C:\WINDOWS\system32;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\System32\Wbem;C:\Program
Files\E
ecutive Software\Diskeeper\;C:\Program Files\Support Tools\
PATHEXT=.COM;.EXE;.BAT;.CMD;.VBS;.VBE;.JS;.JSE;.WSF;.WSH
PROCESSOR
ARCHITECTURE=x86
PROCESSORIDENTIFIER=x86 Family 6 Model 10 Stepping 0, AuthenticAMD
PROCESSOR
LEVEL=6
PROCESSOR_REVISION=0a00
ProgramFiles=C:\Program Files
PROMPT=$P$G
SESSIONNAME=Console
SystemDrive=C:
SystemRoot=C:\WINDOWS

the bit that will be missing or incorect is the path=

goto start, setting, control, system
advanced then at the botton enviorment variables you can then edit the
path so that it has c:\windows\system32 in it

the other possablity is that command.com isnt on your pc do a search
for it and if you find it double click should give you a dos window.
the path has to contain the location of it.

All it does is when you type a dos command it looks in the current
directory for the command you issued it then check the path and search
for it in those directories.

Goodmorning!

All of sudden, I get the following error message when executing

Command.com from the Start Menu:

Nome di comando o file non valido
<----------- file name or command not found
Nome di comando o file non valido
Comando o nome di file errato
<---------- invalid command or file name
Microsoft(R) Windows DOS
(C)Copyright Microsoft Corp 1990-2001.

C:\DOCUME~1\User>

It appears as if, before launching Command.com, XP is trying to execute some
other executables which it cannot find.

Does anybody know what's going on here and if there's an INI file that needs
editing or some registry entries that need fixing?

Thank you very much for your help.

Regards,
Cristian
